Gives new meaning to the phrase
"Praying to the porcelain god"
"Yes, yes I understand.
If I make you feel better
you'll never drink again.
Never heard that one before."

From the Campaign Trail
This week in Germany, Obama drew an estimated
200,000 Berliners to one of his speeches.

McCain drew a similar crowd as EVERY cheese in the
dairy aisle turned out to hear his speech.

And then there's this guy...

The question is:
When will he sober up and stop trying to do
all these "fancy political instruments"...?

Pics From The Past Circa 1982-3

The Apololgy:
"I'm sorry"
but after reading my cousin's blog entry about
a recent Foo Fighters concert in Seattle,
I just couldn't help myself.

The Explaination:
My cousin
once came out to stay with me after I'd moved
from Wichita, KS to Shitek, WI in the ealy 80's.
He was from the coolness of Minneapolis /San Francisco.
I was struggling with small town life and
the transition from the city to such a small town
(no less 10 miles out in the middle of cow-country)
was proving quite a miserable experience.
Hanging out with him was quite a priveledge for me.

Unfortunately, as can be seen in this photo,
once the sun went down there weren't many options
for two bored city teenagers so...
we raided my dad's Brylcreem and my mom's Mary Kay cast-offs
It seems I was sampling a sort of Ziggy Stardust look but
John was well entrenched in the old KISS Army.
Just dig this AWESOME, full-on Metal pose!!!!
(Gene Simmons, eat your heart out!)
Kids...take note.

Arrggghhh: I dedicate this video to you Cuz
RAWK!!!

Using laser technology the director captured all these images
which were turned into data points.

Shooting rockets to the moon,
kids growing up too soon,

Politicians say ...
And the band played on.
So, round and around and around we go
Where the world's headed, nobody knows
Ball of confusion
That's what the world is today
Hey hey

A few new floorboards,
some new plumbing,
and voila', our new shower!
(not quite there yet...)

Pic of the day 7 July, 2008

So I took up the rest of the tiles
and the cement board
and the particleboard which is an amazingly strong product
-except under the shower which had
probably been leaking for the last few years)Here's where the shower used to be.
(Yes, that's my "Bob the Builder" hat.)
This is pretty much the look of the room
for the last school term.

Then I smashed out the shower...Nice.

Ye Olde Bathroom and Laundry

This is the bathroom and Laundry as we saw
it when we had our first inspection.
Craptasic!

"What the Hell is Wrong With the USA???"

If you know me, I'm sure you know
that I would never revel in the passing of anyone.
And I'm not a big believer in irony but...
Former Republican N.C. Sen. Jesse Helms dies at 86
...on the most patriotic day of the year!
(link to memorable quotes)

Darn, I was saving this post for my
most patriotic person of the year...
Joe Horn, 61, shot the two men in November
after he saw them crawling out the windows
of a neighbour's house in a Houston suburb.

Horn called authorities
(scroll to 6:35 for the crime)
He told the emergency dispatcher he had
a shotgun and was going to kill the men.
The dispatcher pleaded with him not to go outside,
but Horn confronted the men with a 12-gauge shotgun
and shot both in the back(!!!)

-Since when did we give common citizens the right
to act as judge, jury and executioner...?

If this is the state of US law,
maybe next year I'll audit my own taxes,
forgive all my traffic infringements and
impeach that damned cowbow myself

"God Bless the USA...Yea, fuck off...bastard"

Food for Thought

In 2008 Zimbabwe had an election in which the results
were marred by fraud, deception , and violent voter intimidation.
The general world consensus is that the results are a sham
and the true will of the people and was circumvented. The Bush administration has taken a uncharacteristically cautious approach
to condeming this obviously undemocratic exercise.
Why so...?
In 2000/(2004), the United States had an election in which the results
were marred by fraud, deception , and voter intimidation.
The general world consensus was that the results were a sham
and the true will of the people was circumvented.

(Old but funny.)

(Old but sad...)

And then there was the 2004 Election:

COLUMBUS - The head of a company vying to sell voting machines in Ohio told Republicans in a recent fund-raising letter that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."
